The story

Yato, a minor deity without a shrine or followers, struggles to establish himself. His current divine weapon abandons him, leaving him without a partner or a means to combat malevolent spirits. His fortunes change when he encounters Hiyori Iki, a high school student whose soul frequently detaches from her body after a traffic accident. Hiyori enlists Yato to help her return to normal, inadvertently pulling her deeper into the hidden world of gods and spirits.

As Yato searches for a new spirit weapon and strives to gain recognition, he forms an unlikely alliance with Hiyori and his newly acquired weapon, Yukine. Their journey is complicated by Yato's past, as a figure from his forgotten history resurfaces with a sinister agenda. The trio must navigate the dangers of both the human and spiritual realms, with Hiyori's unique condition and Yato's ambition at the core of their unfolding adventures.
