The story
The narrative of Josee, the Tiger and the Fish unfolds around two central figures: Josee, a young woman who uses a wheelchair and has lived a sheltered life, and Tsuneo, a dedicated university student. Josee’s grandmother typically takes her out, limiting Josee's independent experiences with the outside world.
Their lives intersect when Tsuneo encounters Josee and her grandmother during one of their morning outings. This initial meeting sparks an unexpected connection between the two. The story is driven by their evolving relationship as Tsuneo becomes a catalyst for Josee to explore beyond her confined existence, challenging her perceptions and fears about the world and her place within it. At stake is Josee's journey toward self-discovery and independence, alongside the development of a tender, heterosexual romance.
