The story
The narrative of A Silent Voice centers on Shouya Ishida, a young man grappling with the consequences of his past actions. In elementary school, Shouya relentlessly bullied Shouko Nishimiya, a new student who is deaf. His cruelty led to Shouko transferring schools, and Shouya himself became an outcast, ostracized by his classmates and left to face the weight of his own guilt and isolation.
Years later, a remorseful Shouya, now deeply depressed and alone, seeks to atone for his past. He endeavors to find Shouko and make amends, driven by a profound desire for redemption and understanding. The film follows his difficult journey to reconnect with Shouko, navigating the complexities of their shared history, the lingering pain of bullying, and the challenges of overcoming communication barriers as he attempts to forge a new path forward.
