The story

In the year 2138, a popular virtual reality game called Yggdrasil faces its final day before a planned shutdown. An ordinary young man, Momonga, chooses to remain logged in as the servers go offline. Instead of logging out, he finds himself transformed into his powerful skeleton avatar, a formidable magic-user, within the game world.

This new reality is not static; the non-player characters within the game begin to develop emotions and personalities. Lacking any real-world connections or purpose, Momonga, now embodying his anti-hero persona, decides to leverage his immense power and the loyalty of his newly sentient NPCs. His ambition drives the narrative as he endeavors to establish dominion over this evolving virtual world.
