The story

Dr. Kenzo Tenma, a respected Japanese brain surgeon in Germany, faces a profound moral dilemma. He chooses to save the life of a critically injured young boy instead of the town mayor, a decision that jeopardizes his career and standing. Soon after, a series of unexplained murders begins, and Tenma becomes the prime suspect despite a lack of direct evidence.

As more murders occur in his vicinity, Tenma's core belief in the equal value of all life is challenged. He realizes his fateful decision had far-reaching and unforeseen consequences. Driven by a need to understand the unfolding tragedy and clear his name, Tenma abandons his medical career to journey across the country, determined to uncover the mystery surrounding the boy whose life he saved. The story follows his pursuit of truth and justice, with his reputation and freedom hanging in the balance.
