The story
In a ravaged future, humanity survives within mobile fort cities called Plantations, where orphaned teenagers reside in pilot quarters known as the "Birdcage." These children are trained as FRANXX pilots, their sole purpose to combat the monstrous Kyoryu, giant organisms that threaten their existence. Among them is Hiro, a former prodigy struggling to find his place within the combat system.
The narrative ignites with the arrival of Zero Two, a mysterious girl who seeks Hiro out, declaring him her "Darling." Their unconventional partnership in piloting a FRANXX becomes central to the unfolding drama, as they confront both the external threat of the Kyoryu and the internal conflicts arising from their unique bond and the restrictive nature of their society. The story explores themes of cohabitation, identity, and the psychological toll of their constant battle for survival.
