The story
In the year 2015, humanity faces a dire threat from powerful alien entities known as Angels, which have reappeared in Tokyo. The special United Nations agency NERV deploys humanoid fighting machines called Evangelion units as the sole defense against these colossal invaders. However, only a select group of fourteen-year-old teenagers, born nine months after the Angels' initial appearance, possess the unique ability to pilot these crucial weapons.
Shinji Ikari, whose father leads the NERV team responsible for the Evangelions, is one such teenager. He is thrust into the pilot's seat, forced to confront the Angels in battles he struggles to comprehend. The story follows Shinji and the other young pilots as they grapple with the immense responsibility and psychological burden of fighting for humanity's survival, risking everything in the process. Later releases feature "Director's Cut" versions of episodes 21-24, incorporating additional scenes.
