The story
Fourteen-year-old Madoka Kaname experiences a vivid nightmare: a city in ruins, a girl battling a monstrous entity, and a feline creature offering Madoka a magical contract to avert tragedy. The next day, a new transfer student, Homura, arrives at Mitakihara Middle School, eerily resembling the girl from Madoka's dream. Homura warns Madoka against changing her current life.
Madoka and her best friend Sayaka soon encounter Kyubey, the cat-like creature from the dream. He reveals the existence of magical girls who fight abstract beings called "witches" that spread despair. Kyubey offers Madoka and Sayaka the opportunity to become magical girls themselves, granting each a single wish in exchange for this duty. However, Homura’s ominous warning suggests the true nature of this contract may be far darker than it appears, placing Madoka and Sayaka at a critical crossroads.
