The story
Rei Kiriyama, a 17-year-old professional shogi player, lives independently but struggles with emotional immaturity and a difficult past. His relationship with his adoptive family is tense, and he finds it hard to connect with his high school peers. Simultaneously, his shogi career faces a slump, with his performance and ranking stagnating under significant pressure.
The narrative follows Rei's journey as he frequently visits the Kawamoto sisters—Akari, Hinata, and Momo—who offer him a stark contrast to his own isolated existence. Their cheerful home provides Rei with the affection and care he lacked, driving the story of his personal growth. As he navigates new and old relationships, the series explores themes of coming of age, rehabilitation, and the formation of a found family.
