The story
Lycoris Recoil centers on a secret organization of young women known as Lycoris, who are trained from a young age to be assassins and agents, protecting Japan from crime and terrorism. Takina Inoue, a skilled but hot-headed Lycoris, is reassigned to a local café, LycoReco, after disobeying orders during a mission. There, she meets Chisato Nishikigi, a cheerful and seemingly carefree Lycoris who possesses extraordinary combat abilities but refuses to kill.
The café serves as a front for LycoReco's "troubleshooter" services, taking on various odd jobs that range from mundane deliveries to dangerous missions involving armed criminals and even more unusual threats. Takina struggles to adapt to Chisato's unconventional methods and the café's relaxed atmosphere, while Chisato tries to impart her unique philosophy on life and combat. Their contrasting personalities and approaches to their duties drive the narrative as they navigate the complexities of their secret lives and the found family they build at LycoReco.
