The story

In the 21st century, a gate suddenly manifests in Tokyo's Ginza district, unleashing monsters and knights from a medieval-European-style world. This "Ginza Incident" results in numerous civilian casualties. Japan's Self-Defense Forces deploy a small contingent of soldiers through the gate to the alternate world beyond.

The story follows otaku soldier Youji as he leads his unit in exploring this new realm. They discover villages under attack by a dragon, and an elf girl, a survivor of the dragon's destruction, joins their group. The narrative centers on the JSDF's mission to navigate this dangerous fantasy world, understand its inhabitants, and deal with the ongoing conflict and political implications of their presence.
