The story
Horimiya (2021) centers on high school students Kyoko Hori and Izumi Miyamura, who each maintain carefully constructed public images. Hori appears to be a popular and academically perfect student, but outside of school, she is a pragmatic homebody dedicated to her family. Miyamura presents himself as a quiet, somewhat gloomy loner, yet he secretly possesses a gentle nature, along with multiple piercings and tattoos.
A chance encounter outside of school reveals their true selves to one another, shattering their initial perceptions. This shared secret forms the foundation of their developing relationship. The story follows Hori and Miyamura as they navigate their contrasting identities and the challenges of high school life, exploring how their hidden personalities affect their connection and the world around them.
