The story
Black Bullet plunges viewers into a world where a devastating virus, Gastrea, has pushed humanity to the brink. Cities are humanity's last refuge, protected by colossal Varanium monoliths from the mutated creatures the virus creates. The only effective defense against the Gastrea are the Cursed Children, young girls who carry the virus but retain their human minds, granting them superhuman strength and abilities.
These Cursed Children, often paired with a human partner, form the front line of defense, engaging in intense combat against the monstrous Gastrea. However, their unique powers come at a steep cost: they are both humanity's saviors and its pariahs, feared and ostracized by the very people they protect. The series explores the precarious existence of these duos as they fight for survival in a world that simultaneously relies on and reviles them.
