The story
In a future where advanced androids known as Giftia integrate into human society, a critical technological limitation emerges: each Giftia possesses a finite operational lifespan. Once this period concludes, their systems degrade, leading to unpredictable and potentially dangerous behavior. To address this, the manufacturing corporation, SA Corp., establishes a specialized "terminal service" division dedicated to retrieving Giftia nearing their expiration date.
The narrative centers on Tsukasa Mizugaki, a newly assigned human employee at this terminal service. He is partnered with Isla, a Giftia who, despite her own advanced emotional capabilities, is herself approaching the end of her service life. Their joint mission involves locating and decommissioning other Giftia before their inevitable system failures, a task that forces them to confront the profound implications of artificial intelligence, memory, and the transient nature of existence.
