What is Winter in Sokcho about?
In the snowy seaside town of Sokcho, 25-year-old Soo-Ha works at a guesthouse. She drifts between her mother’s fish stall and her boyfriend until a French artist’s arrival stirs questions about her identity. As winter deepens, Soo-Ha and the artist form an unspoken connection through food and art.
Winter in Sokcho is a French drama film, directed by Koya Kamura and released in 2024. Adapted from the novel of the same title by Elisa Shua Dusapin, the film stars Bella Kim as Sooha, a young woman working at a guest house in Sokcho, South Korea, whose routines in life are disrupted when French tourist Kerrand comes to town, triggering Sooha's memories of her own estranged French father.
