What is The Discarnates about?
A recently divorced writer is reunited with the ghosts of his parents who died when he was a boy. However, every time he sees them he loses more life energy. Now, he must choose between starting a new life or staying forever in the past.
The Discarnates is a 1988 Japanese fantasy drama mystery film directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi from a screenplay by Shin'ichi Ichikawa, based on the novel Strangers by Taichi Yamada. This was later adapted into an English film, All of Us Strangers (2023).
