What is Tenderness of the Wolves about?
A German serial killer preys on boys and young men during the so-called years of crisis between the wars. Based on the true story of Fritz Haarmann, aka the Butcher of Hanover and the Vampire of Hanover.
The Tenderness of Wolves is a 1973 West German crime drama film directed by Ulli Lommel. The story is based on the crimes of German serial killer and cannibal Fritz Haarmann, although the time and place has been changed from 1920's Hannover to the post-war 1950's Ruhr area. It was written by Kurt Raab, who also stars in the film, and produced by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, who also plays a side character. It was entered into the 23rd Berlin International Film Festival.
