Directing style
Toby Poser’s horror-drama cinematography establishes a tense, lonely, and ominous atmosphere through a color palette dominated by cool, desaturated tones, slate blues, and deep forest greens, occasionally stripped down to stark black-and-white. The camera maintains a grounded perspective, favoring eye-level and low-angle setups that frame subjects in tight closeups and medium shots, using a shallow depth of field to isolate characters from their surroundings. Lighting relies heavily on natural and motivated sources, utilizing soft window light and direct sun for daytime interiors and exteriors, while accenting darker scenes with practical fixtures and the warm glow of firelight.
