Directing style
Aaron Katz establishes a grounded, observational viewpoint by keeping the camera almost exclusively at eye level, favoring medium and wide compositions that capture characters in balanced interior and exterior settings. The visual atmosphere relies heavily on a cool, desaturated color grade with a palette anchored in muted slates, deep blues, and earthy neutrals, occasionally punctuated by a sharp crimson. Lighting is motivated by natural and realistic sources—predominantly sunlight, windows, and practicals like neon—which combine with a frequently shallow depth of field to evoke a lonely, tense, and quietly nostalgic mood.
