What is No Way Out about?

Navy Lt. Tom Farrell meets a young woman, Susan Atwell , and they share a passionate fling. Farrell then finds out that his superior, Defense Secretary David Brice, is also romantically involved with Atwell. When the young woman turns up dead, Farrell is put in charge of the murder investigation. He begins to uncover shocking clues about the case, but when details of his encounter with Susan surface, he becomes a suspect as well.

No Way Out is a 1987 American neo-noir crime thriller film, directed by Roger Donaldson and written by Robert Garland based on the 1946 Kenneth Fearing novel The Big Clock. It stars Kevin Costner as Tom Farrell, a naval officer who enters a romantic relationship with Susan Atwell, the mistress of Secretary of Defense David Brice. Will Patton, Howard Duff, George Dzundza, Jason Bernard, Fred Thompson and Iman appear in supporting roles. No Way Out is the third film to be based on Fearing's novel, after The Big Clock (1948) and Police Python 357 (1976).
